© 2013 SW Florida Burials At Sea
Scattering a loved one’s ashes at sea can be a moving and intimate celebration of life. It is becoming more and more popular as an alternative to the traditional graveside memorial service. We can accommodate up to six passengers on the “Bonnie Joy”. Even though the scattering takes place on the water, we record the exact coordinates that will enable you to return to the exact spot in the future to pay your respects. Some people prefer to scatter the ashes directly on the water while others prefer to lower them into the water in a biodegradable urn. The advantage to using an urn is that it eliminates any potential problems that can be caused by wind or waves. Some people opt to toss flowers or rose petals in the water following the ashes. We offer two different options for the burial. Unattended or attended.
Unattended Scattering $125.00
For those that would prefer not to, or are unable to attend we offer unattended scattering. The burial would be done in a timely fashion with the dignity and respect your loved one deserves. You will receive a certificate recording the exact time and location, (longitude and latitude) as a memorial of the service.
Attended Scattering $450.00
For attended scatterings we can accommodate up to six passengers on our vessel, the “Bonnie Joy”. Capt. Ross will take your group out through Stump Pass in Englewood and continue three miles out into the Gulf of Mexico as is required by law.You will receive a certificate recording the exact time and location (longitude and latitude) as a memorial of the service. The coordinates will allow you to visit the exact location again in the future. The Capt. will work with you to plan a time that is convenient to you, taking the weather and tides into account. The trip generally last between 2-3 hours.
